Transportation Infrastructure Funding Strategies

Coriolis is working with TransLink on the evaluation of potential new innovative strategies for funding future investment in rapid transit infrastructure.

Community Amenity Contribution Policy

Coriolis is working with several municipalities, including District of North Vancouver, New Westminster, Victoria, Squamish, and Vancouver, to refine density bonus and CAC policy in the light of the recently published Provincial guidelines for CACs.

Athabaska University, Alberta – Long Range Development Plan

Coriolis has been selected by Athabasca University in Alberta to prepare a long range development plan for the University’s extensive land holdings. The development plan will incorporate opportunities for commercial, residential, industrial, and research uses.

UBC’s SCARP Student Symposium – Silver Sponsor

Coriolis is supporting UBC’s School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP) as a Silver Sponsor for its Student Symposium entitled “Embracing CompelxCity”. The Symposium explores “How can we work toward building resilient and inclusive cities in the face of deeply complex environmental, social, and economic challenges?”

Riverfront Development Implementation Strategy – City of Edmonton, AB

Coriolis is helping the City of Edmonton create an implementation strategy for the development of a large parcel of City-owned riverfront land.

Redevelopment Incentives for Historic Downtown – District of Mission, BC

Coriolis assisted the District of Mission in the creation of a package of incentives to encourage mixed use redevelopment in the historic Downtown.  Drawing on this experience, Coriolis has been approached by several other small communities, including Sechelt and Harrison Hot Springs, regarding tools that local government can use to help encourage redevelopment and densification in older commercial districts.

Seaview Garden Estates – West Vancouver, BC

Coriolis assisted the owners of an existing older multi-family property – Seaview Garden Estates – in marketing their property for redevelopment via a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process.  Several very attractive offers were received and the successful proponent entered into a conditional agreement. All conditions have now been satisfied, and the sale is scheduled to close in mid February.
